Yes, many of the most popular video streaming services work in the Dominican Republic, but honestly it is frustrating that many others do not.

It happened to me recently when I wanted to watch a new movie that was premiering on a specific video platform (Hulu) and when I tried to sign up for the service I realized that it is not available in the Dominican Republic.

So, which video streaming apps are available in the Dominican Republic, and which are not?

Here is a small list:

Popular Video streaming apps available in the Dominican Republic

1-Netflix

Of course, one of the most popular videos streaming apps is Netflix, which has been available throughout the Dominican Republic for years.

And yes, you can also use Netflix in Punta Cana, Bayahibe, and other tourist destinations.

Although the Netflix programming available in the Caribbean is different than in the United States, it is possible that some movies and series may be omitted.

2-Disney+

Disney+ is another app that I have used in the Dominican Republic without problems, it is one of the most economical, like Netflix its content may be limited by location although most of its catalog and important movies and series are available in the programming.

3-Star+

Like Netflix, Star+ is an app available in the Dominican Republic, it can be purchased individually or as a combo with disney+, something I noticed is that Star+ does not have a trial period like the other apps.

4-HBO Max

HBO Max is one of my favorite apps, yes, it is available for the Dominican Republic, it is inexpensive and they have a great variety of movies and series available.

What others popular video apps work in the Dominican Republic?

YouTube, TikTok, twitch tv, and Apple TV, are some of the most basic and popular video streaming apps available globally and in the Dominican Republic.

Popular Video streaming apps NOT available in the Dominican Republic

1-Hulu

As I said at the beginning of the topic, Hulu is not available in the Dominican Republic, I tried to hire this service to see the premiere of the movie Prey, and also to see what other content is offered, but you can not install the app and it does not work in Dominican territory.

2- Amazon Prime Video

Amazon prime video used to work in the Dominican Republic, I had it installed before, but since mid-2022 the app is no longer available in the Dominican Republic.

I tried to contact the amazon prime video service, but it is simply no longer available for the Dominican Republic, maybe in the future, it will be available again.

Update 2023: Actually, I was able to sign up again on Amazon prime video, as it is still available for the Dominican Republic and Latin America.

Obviously, the catalog of programming is different than in the United States.

3-US TV streaming channels

Streaming TV channels from the USA are not available in the Dominican Republic, in order to access this service from the Dominican Republic, you must use other technologies such as a VPN to change the location.
